What is the Dua for Death in Islam?

Being a Muslim, do you know the dua for death. All human beings, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims, will experience the process of dying. We Muslims are well aware that eventually, every one of us has to die. Death is the most difficult thing a person can face, so try to be considerate and kind to people who have lost their loved ones.

Living as a Muslim is one of the greatest rewards a person can ask for. Islam teaches us ways to live life so, after our death, we should go to heaven on the day of judgment. Islam provides Muslim Dua’s for every occasion like dua before sleeping, dua for death, dua for eating food, etc.

When a person dies, we as Muslims need dua to clear up the way to heaven. Abu Huraira (may Allah be please with him) reported that Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said, “when a man dies his acts come to an end, but three acts continue after his death. One is recurring charity, other is knowledge by which other people benefit and pious son who prays for him”.

The death of a person can be difficult for people around him, so there is no right or wrong way to act when a person dies. The best thing you can do for a dead person is to recite dua for him and ask Allah to forgive his sins and take him to heaven.

Different Dua’s for Death in Islam

There are many Ayat’s and dua when a person dies. The first dua is said when you hear the news of the death of a person.

 إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ رَٰجِعُونَ

Translation:

                     “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”

The second dua is recommended by Allah when a disaster strikes them. In Holy Quran, Allah says,


اللهُـمِّ اغْفِـرْ لِـ-فُلاَنٍ (باسـمه)وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتََـهُ فِي المَهْـدِيّيـنَ ، وَاخْـلُفْـهُ في عَقِـبِهِ في الغَابِِـرِينَ، وَاغْفِـرْ لَنَا وَلَـهُ يا رَبَّ العـالَمـين، وَافْسَـحْ لَهُ في قَبْـرِهِ وَنَـوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ

Translation: “O Allah, forgive [name of the person] and elevate his station among those who are guided. Send him along the path of those who came before, and forgive him and us, O Lord of the worlds. Enlarge for him his grave and shed light upon him in it” (2,156).

Another dua you can say when a person dies is to ask forgiveness for him from Allah.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ الَّلهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ

Translation:

O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, strengthen him”.

The death of a person is a traumatic event for the deceased’s family. There is a dua for death in Islam. This dua help person in many ways. You can ask for reward, kindness, and forgiveness for the dead person by saying these Dua’s. Instead of crying and screaming, start reading this dua or reciting the Holy Quran. You can also say these Dua’s whenever you remember that person. Allah listens to every dua and responds to each one in mysterious ways.
