Benefits of Fasting

We all know the importance of reciting Dua before fasting. There are many benefits of fasting mentioned in both the Quran and Hadith.

1. Divine Commitment

In Holy Quran, it is mentioned that“The month of Ramadan is the one in which we revealed the Quran, which is a guidance for humankind and clear proof of the guidance, and the criterion of right and wrong.  So, whosoever of you is present during this month, let him fast during the whole of it, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey (let him fast the same) the number of other days. Allah desired for you ease; He desired not hardship for you, and He desired that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that peradventure ye may be thankful.”

2. Complete Abstinence

In fasting, we abstain from any form of food and drink from sunrise to sunset. During this time, we have to resist evil thoughts and deeds.

Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) has said, “Fasting is an armor with which you can protect yourself, so let not him who fasts utter immodest or foul speech, nor let him act ignorantly; and if anyone quarrels with him or abuses him, he should say twice “I am fasting.”
