Origin of Word Surah
At the time of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W), the term Surah was used to refer to a series of verses from the Quran. This series of verses are shown by the term Surah in many places in Quran.
“We have sent down and named a Surah, and We have sent down in it signals, simple signs, that you can hopefully know” (24:1 Quran).
Order of Quran
There are many beliefs on the chronological order of Surah in the Quran. There was one edition in the 15 century and included the standard Egyptian version of the chronological order researched by Abd al-Kafi in 1924.
Several verses are linked with specific events in Islam’s history, making arranging them in chapters. Chapter 96 was the first Wahi on Muhammad’s (S.A.W), and migration of Muslims are sated in verses like 16:41 and 47:13. Similarly, all the battles like Badr, Uhud are mentioned in verses 8:1-7 and 3:120.
